Do you go to dinner? Dinner you can make and you know everyone will like it and it will be delicious every time. Well, this beef noodle cake is mine! Everyone loves it and I can always count on it to be one of those who have a peaceful dinner.

Means my children don't whine and cry because they have to eat their food. So you can bet that this cream noodle cake is made several times a month in my house.

It's very delicious and best of all, it's easy! I like trying out new recipes and I remember when I first made this a few years ago, I didn't have high hopes for that because I wasn't too used to egg noodles and the recipe didn't seem to have much flavor. I found out very quickly that I was wrong.

Beef is boiled on the stove with tomato sauce and some seasoning. While boiling, cook some egg noodles and then coat the hot egg noodles with cream cheese & sour cheese and sour cream sauce.

Cover in your casserole plate and then add the cheese, then cook for a while in the oven.

This recipe is also very versatile. I have several readers using some fresh onions, fresh garlic, chopped pepper and cooking it with a mixture of beef. Other readers have used a can of corn (dried) and mixed with meat.

My family likes the recipe, but the beauty of this recipe is so adaptable and versatile. I present this with a bag of green salad that I add cherry tomatoes and chopped cucumber. My kids LOVED the green salad (weird, huh?!) So I always try and have it at the dinner table. You can also serve it with this slow cooking carrot or 15-minute carrot pan.

Ingredients

• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 package (12 oz) egg noodles
• 3/4 cup sour cream
• 2 cups cottage cheese 16 oz container
• 2 cups shredded cheese I use Colby Jack

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13 baking dish and spray with cooking spray.

Cook the ground beef a skillet until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.

Add in the tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and onion powder into the meat and let simmer on low while you prepare the rest.

Cook the egg noodles according to the [don't forget to salt the water!] Package directions
In large bowl, mix with the sour cream and the cottage cheese.

Drain the noodles and pour them into the mixing bowl with the sour cream and cottage cheese.

Stir to coat all the noodles.

Pour half the egg noodle mixture into your prepared pan, top with half the ground beef mixture, and then half the shredded cheese. Repeat.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Recipe Notes

I always cook the egg noodles for 1 minute less than what the package calls for. They will cook slightly more when they bake in the oven. For best results, don't use low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese or sour cream. Obviously you could save calories, but taste wise and texture, the dish will suffer. 

Sometimes when I make this I will divide it into two 8x8 pans (instead of one big 9x13), cook one right away for dinner and then I will cover the other with aluminum foil and put in the fridge for another night. It will keep in the fridge for 2-3 days. Just bake as directed.
