Make your own baked stripe using a wet towel and safety pin
If you have a limited budget and can't afford to buy a piece of Wilton bread, you can use a wet towel with two pins. Cut the towel to the size of a baking sheet and wet the towel with cold water. This is one of my favorite methods. Many times I forgot to wet the cake even in time for the cake or I did not have the patience to make my own cake with a wet towel. I found that I could always get flat cakes using wet towels or paper towels and cake boards (mostly wet paper towels).
