29 Award Winning Cake Recipes to Win the Blue Ribbon at the Fair
Growing up in the midwest, I look forward to fairs throughout the summer, knowing that it is a great way to start late summer and the beginning of the new school year.
To my surprise here in Texas, county fair runs a little differently. There are no carnival rides, but on the contrary, they all focus on students entering regional fairs - from cows to pigs and chickens, and especially extraordinary recipes.
As a Family and Consumer Science teacher, many people still call Home Economics, I am responsible for the recipe area. Some of the categories we have include bread, jam and preserved food, two categories of cakes (decorative and edible), cakes, and sweets.
I think I will share several recipes from each category, breaking up these blog posts into several different posts. Today's post focuses on cakes, both for flavor and decorative purposes.
Recipe for Taste - Award Winner Cake
When I finish my taste section, I notice you want to include cakes that are relevant to your area. So many Americans think we all eat the same food but each region is unique. You can choose one of these cakes, but you may also want to see cakes that are specific to your country.
1. Lemon Cake
My mind has been fixed on the lemon cake for a while now. Light and airy cake ideas, giving you sweet and natural taste sounds delicious. If that sounds like your hallway, this recipe can be found in Well Plated. I would recommend this cake with raspberry or blueberry stuffing, giving it more than that natural taste.
2. Shirley Temple Cake
Still having a natural feeling on my mind, I think this recipe looks delicious.
I like cherries and the fact that there is no actual icing, on the contrary, they have sugarcoating over the cake.
You can find the recipe here.
3. Triple Chocolate Poke Cake
Explore far from natural and continue to the sweet and decadent chocolate flavor. I think this cake sounds delicious and I like the idea of moisture that you know it will have because of the poke cake.
